Role Overview
We are seeking a dynamic Social Media Manager with Web3 experience to lead and execute our social media strategy across multiple platforms. You will be responsible for building SkyMapper’s online presence, engaging with a global community of astronomers and crypto-enthusiasts, and amplifying our mission through innovative, data-driven campaigns.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive social media and community strategy tailored to both astronomy and Web3 audiences.
- Create, curate, and publish engaging, educational, and timely content across platforms (X/Twitter, BlueSky, Discord, Telegram, Instagram, LinkedIn, Reddit, YouTube, etc.), with a focus on decentralized science, blockchain, NFTs, and DAOs.
- Monitor, respond, and engage with community members in real time, fostering trust and loyalty within both the astronomy and crypto communities.
- Plan and execute social media campaigns around product launches, partnerships, scientific discoveries, and major Web3/crypto events.
- Cultivate relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), influencers, and partners in both the astronomy and Web3 ecosystems.
- Leverage meme culture and trending topics to increase reach and drive engagement, while maintaining SkyMapper’s professional voice.
- Analyze social media performance using analytics tools; report on growth, engagement, and campaign effectiveness, and use insights to optimize strategy.
- Collaborate with internal teams (marketing, product, science, design) to ensure brand consistency and alignment with broader initiatives.
- Suggest and implement innovative Web3-native features (airdrops, token-gated content, NFT campaigns, DAO voting updates, etc.) to deepen community participation.
- Ensure all content and campaigns comply with relevant crypto, data, and advertising regulations.
Requirements
- 3+ years of proven experience managing social media for Web3 projects or crypto/blockchain companies.
- Strong understanding of Web3 concepts: blockchain, cryptocurrencies, NFTs, DAOs, DeFi, and decentralized science.
- Demonstrated ability to grow and engage online communities across multiple platforms, especially Discord, Telegram, and Twitter.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex technical topics into accessible content for diverse audiences.
- Experience developing and executing multi-channel content strategies and campaigns.
- Data-driven mindset with strong analytical and reporting skills; proficiency in social media analytics tools.
- Creative thinker who thrives on innovation, meme culture, and rapid response to emerging trends.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, remote-first environment.
- Passion for space, science, and the potential of decentralized technologies to change the world.

- Experience with token incentive programs, DAO governance, or NFT campaigns.
- Familiarity with astronomy, citizen science, or open data initiatives.
